Dear members,

Past and future events

Now that our membership has increased to about 40 and we have held 3 main events since we formed last Spring, we feel that it is time to re-appraise what the Society has done and what we should do in the future.

On 20 April 2007 the Hungarian Folk Dance Group of London joined us in a Spring entertainment

It’s clear from members’ comments that the folk dancing has been a great success. We have also tried to vary other forms of entertainment to suit different tastes. However, we would like as many views as possible, however brief (or lengthy!). We also aim to keep the costs of events as low as possible, which unfortunately we were not able to do on the last occasion. Please contact Richard or Sam and let us know what we are doing right and what we are doing wrong in all of these matters.

Our initial thoughts for the future are to hold a much less formal event, perhaps involving Hungarian wine and cheese tasting or cooking other Hungarian specialities together. A late summer outdoor event would suit this. Maybe we should just have an opportunity for members and friends to share experiences of travelling in Hungary. Our Hungarian members may also be willing to share their knowledge and skills of Hungarian handicrafts? Do let us know. We will hold a short meeting, probably in the 2nd half of May to discuss all these things. We will contact everybody when we have sorted out a date. If you have any preferences or dates that are already ruled out for you, please contact Richard.

We will continue to contact people by email to save time and postage costs (there is almost no one without an email address on our list). However, if this is not your usual form of communication, please let us know.

A couple of requests: We have a flag to return to the Embassy. If anyone is going to be in the vicinity of Victoria Station (about 10 minutes walk away) in the near future, would you be prepared to drop it off?

We would like to put some photos of the folk dancing on the website. If any member has some could they please send Richard by attachment their best (one or two)? Thanks.

Best wishes
